The Junior Roller Derby Association (JRDA) works to nurture bold self-confidence in youth by developing teamwork and athletic ability while treasuring individuality within a culture of integration, encouragement, and service to others through the growth of roller derby. This year, there will be World Cup Team USA Tryouts and Junior Con East going on Friday - Sunday.

CPR Certification

Join Sharon McMahon for this seminar where you will learn how to perform CPR in the event of an emergency at your skating center. Once complete, participants will receive 3 credit hours and will receive their CPR certification from Danville Area Community College with certification mailed after the event is complete.


3 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Top Secrets

Every skating center owner/manager faces dilemmas from operations to marketing. This seminar, hosted by Cindy Anderson and Kim Brown, will provide members with some of the top secrets of the industry to help manage the day-to-day operations of your facility more efficiently. With over 60 years of on-hand experience between the two, you’re sure to garner dozens of ideas to take back to your skating center.

Members will be voting on constitutional changes and Executive Director will be making state of the address on the RSA.

Chapter Lunch

Sit down with members from your local sections and discuss current events, hot topics, rink issues you may need suggestions to fix, etc. Each section has a table, so just grab some food and mingle.

How to React In An Active Shooter Situation

It’s a conversation no one wants to have or to think about, but it’s an imperative one to have in today’s environment of gun violence. Listen and learn how you can take steps to protect your customers, assist law enforcement, and get everyone out as quickly and safely as possible.

Learn How to Make The Stem Program Work For Your Skating Center

Did you know that whether your state abides by the S.T.E.M. curriculum or not you can utilize the S.T.E.M. program as an educational field trip within your school system? Did you know that during a trial year, one rink brought in an additional $100,000 on S.T.E.M. field trips alone? The opportunities to make this program work in your skating center are endless, so come learn about new advancements, additions and why you MUST invest in this program!

Creating a Fool Proof Skate Maintenance Program

A good skate maintenance program is one of the most important things a rink owner can invest in to ensure that their skating center covers all basics to reduce liability in the event of an accident. In no way should this be an area that a center should avoid. Listen as Don Perkins and Jamie Cortes share a brand new skate maintenance program that members should consider employing.

Buses leave at 5:30 p.m. at front entrance of hotel

Take a bus and join fellow members for an evening at Astro Skating Center. Members will be treated to a night of skating, games, food, live entertainment and more! Meet at the front entrance of the DoubleTree hotel and take one of the Astro Skating Center buses there and back once the event is over. Meet at the front entrance of the hotel at 5:30 p.m. to begin taking buses to the skating center. BRING YOUR SKATES!

The International Amusement & Leisure Defense Association, Inc. is a non-profit association of lawyers and other professionals who are actively engaged in representing the interests of the amusement and leisure industries. Understanding the Pass through Grant Program With The Roller Skating Foundation

The Roller Skating Foundation recently began accepting grants through what’s called a “Pass Through Grant Program.” Throughout the globe there are grants that are offered by corporations and organizations to fund a variety of programs for educational facilities. It’s a tax incentive to them to donate to non-profits and it’s a benefit to educational facilities and programs, too. Come learn how to find grants, apply for them, have them submitted to the Foundation for payment and how it can benefit your skating center.

Roller Skating University: Fun Spot


Join fellow members for this all-day trip to Fun Spot Theme Park in Orlando, Florida. Complete with thrill rides, coasters, go-carts, family rides, midway and more, learn about the behind the scenes operation of this unique family fun park after a breakfast. RSU is kindly sponsored by Flagship Carpets and is free to all full convention delegates. Meet at the front entrance of the hotel at 8:30 a.m. to take buses to the Funspot for breakfast and the tour.
